Co-Treatment

Co-Treatment

Co-Treatment

Some children benefit from a coordinated approach where Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy are provided together. Co-treatment is especially helpful for children who experience challenges with feeding, oral motor skills, sensory processing, or daily living activities, as it allows therapists to address multiple areas of need in a single, integrated session.

Referrals

Children can be referred for Speech Therapy by parents, pediatricians, teachers, school counsellors, or other healthcare professionals. A formal medical referral is not required, and families are welcome to contact the clinic directly if they have concerns about their child’s communication development.

We commonly accept referrals for children experiencing challenges with:

  • Speech sound development or unclear speech
  • Language delays or difficulty expressing ideas
  • Difficulty understanding language or following directions
  • Social communication challenges
  • Stuttering or disruptions in the flow of speech
  • Voice or resonance concerns
  • Feeding or oral motor difficulties

If you are unsure whether Speech Therapy is appropriate for your child, our team is happy to discuss your concerns and guide you through the intake process.

Ways We Provide Speech Therapy

  • Individual Sessions
  • Speech and Language Assessments
  • Co-treatment with Occupational Therapy or Feeding Therapy
  • Parent Coaching and Home Strategies

Our Therapeutic Approach

Our speech-language therapists use evidence-based, child-centered approaches to support each child’s communication development. Therapy is individualized based on your child’s strengths, needs, and stage of development.

Sessions may incorporate play-based learning, structured skill-building activities, and natural communication opportunities to help children develop speech, language, and social communication skills in a supportive environment.

We work collaboratively with families and other professionals to ensure that skills learned in therapy can be applied at home, at school, and in everyday interactions.

Signs your child Might benefit from Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy can help children develop the communication skills needed to express themselves, understand others, and participate confidently in everyday activities.

You may consider seeking support if your child:

  • Is difficult for others to understand when speaking
  • Has trouble pronouncing certain sounds or words
  • Uses fewer words than other children their age
  • Has difficulty putting words together into sentences
  • Struggles to follow instructions or understand questions
  • Has difficulty interacting or communicating with peers
  • Stutters or has disruptions in the flow of speech
  • Shows frustration when trying to communicate
  • Experiences challenges with feeding, chewing, or oral motor skills

If you notice one or more of these signs, Speech Therapy may help your child develop the skills and confidence needed for effective communication.
